Our Adoption Process
- July 5, 2008 to Present: Zack and Aubree struggle with infertility-numerous doctors, tests, medicines, procedures, surgeries, failures, and tears
- December 23, 2012: Shukhrat is born in Moscow, Russia (while Zack and Aubree are swimming with dolphins in New Zealand!)
- February 25, 2014: Aubree attends Nightlight Christian Adoption Agency Information Night
- March 17, 2014: Submit online application to Nightlight
- March 18, 2014: Mail initial home study fee
- March 27, 2014: Zack and Aubree attend Nightlight Information Night, undecided about domestic/international/embryo adoption
- April and May 2014: Complete home study paperwork, including doctor appointments and fingerprinting
- May 28, 2014: Social worker home visit #1
- June 6, 2014: Social worker home visit #2
- July 6, 2014: Decide on international adoption, interested in Latin America
- July 8, 2014: Find out wait time is 3 years for infant in Nicaragua (the only Latin American country that seemed hopeful)
- July 9, 2014: Talk to international program coordinator at Nightlight, find out Kyrgyzstan has just reopened and we could have an infant home within a year
- July 9-11, 2014: Read about and get excited about a country we had never heard of
- July 11, 2014: Mail international application fee and paperwork to Nightlight
- July 16, 2014: Start working on dossier documents
- July 19, 2014: Attend Nightlight Summer Picnic in Loveland
- August 1, 2014: Receive initial home study approval
- August 9, 2014: First Aid/CPR training
- August 11, 2014: Mail most dossier documents off to get apostille
- August 22-23, 2014: Core Training Classes
- August 25, 2014: Mail dossier documents (minus Zack's employment form) to Nightlight
- September 4, 2014: Dossier sent to translator
- September 24, 2014: Final dossier form mailed to Nightlight, I-600A form mailed to USCIS
- September 29, 2014: Dossier sent to Kyrgyzstan
- October 27, 2014: Biometrics (fingerprinting) appointment for USCIS
- November 3, 2014: Confirm our dossier registration within Kyrgyzstan, officially waiting for a referral
- November 9, 2014: Officially announce our adoption to friends and family via video
- November 23, 2014: Receive a referral (including two pictures and a short video) for a nearly two year old Kyrgyz boy
- November 24, 2014: Accept referral
- November 27, 2014 (Thanksgiving): Share video and announce referral news to our parents and immediate families
- December 19-29, 2014: First visit to Kyrgyzstan for 10 day bonding period
- December 23, 2014: Boy's 2nd Birthday
- January 24, 2015: Notified of court date of 2/16/15
- February 2, 2015: Received I-171H form from USCIS
- February 14-19, 2015: Second visit to Kyrgyzstan (just Aubree) for court
- February 16, 2015: Court appointment in Tokmok
- March 15, 2015: Leave for Kyrgyzstan for final trip
- March 17, 2015: Adoption "Shamrock" Day for Jonas Shukhrat!!!
- March 20, 2015: Interview at Bishkek Embassy
- March 22-25, 2015: Visit Lake Issyk-Kul
- March 26, 2015: Travel to Almaty, medical check-up
- March 27, 2015: Receive Jonas's visa to travel to USA
- March 28, 2015: Fly home to Denver with Jonas
- April 5, 2015: Jonas baptized on Easter Sunday
- April 23, 2015: Jonas's surgery for metopic synostosis
- December 23, 2015: Jonas turns 3 in Denver
